Adobo Cook-Off Fundraiser

After celebrating our 15th anniversary last year with over 450 people, we continue to embody the spirit of sama-sama (togetherness). Sama-sama in navigating the issues faced by immigrants and working class communities. Sama-samawith families whose loved ones are in detention. Sama-sama in fighting for what is right and just. Through our programs, advocacy, and community organizing, we remain dedicated in supporting migrants facing deportation, providing fresh produce to people facing food insecurity, and fighting for wages and improved workplace conditions. Now more than ever, the sama-sama spirit is elevating our Filipino community to new heights.
To celebrate 16 years of sama-samang paglaban (fighting together), we invite you to join us for our Adobo Cook-Off fundraiser on Saturday, October 17, 2026 from 12-4PM at New Life Community Church in Artesia, CA!
All funds raised will go towards FMC’s services and programs and the Tanggol Migrante (Defend Migrants) Movement’s Legal Defense Fund as we continue to support those who are fighting deportation.

The contest entry fee is $50 and can be paid for here. The fee covers two event tickets which includes one catered meal per ticket. If you have more than two members of your team, they will have to purchase additional tickets at the website listed above. However, please reach out if additional tickets will be an issue as we do not want to turn people away due to lack of funds.
Contest Rules:
Adobo may contain Pork, Chicken, Beef, or Vegetable/Tofu, etc.
How much should you cook?
3 portions for the judges to evaluate (3-5 bites each)
Recommended up to 100 tasting servings for audience (1-2 bites, approx. 12-15 lbs. total of protein)
Adobo must be FULLY cooked before arriving at the venue. Chafing dishes and fuel will be provided by the organizers to keep the food warm
You are welcome to bring your own warming dishes, decorations, or other materials you would like for your station.
Please wear gloves when serving. Gloves and masks will be provided.
Please email us your list of ingredients so the audience can be aware of any allergens
Ingredients list should be submitted to event organizers by 9pm (PT) on Thursday, October 15th so we can print it by Friday, October 16th.

Be a vendor at our event!
There are no vendor fees for those selling drinks & desserts, although we welcome any donations from a portion of your sales. There is no pressure to do so and ultimately want to support your business!
If you’re a nonprofit or have informational resources to share, the tabling fee is $50.

We have lots of different ways to get involved, even if you may not be able to attend on the day of the event. We’re looking for people to help with fundraising ideas, doing setup or breakdown, assisting vendors on the day-of, and more!
